Glass clips for cocktail mega space

I don't have the exact distance of this gap but it is a whole lot bigger than what I expected. Any ideas to fix?  Wood shim?

Plastic speaker grill from twisted quarter

Here is a photo of a plastic speaker grill I bought from twistedquarter.com. I am not sure if I will use it on my cocktail build or not seeing they look alittle cheap

There is a major gap between the wood top which is 3/4 inch thick and the glass.  Is there something I am missing?
